My kids birthday was yesterday. The kids party is this weekend. I’m sure it will be fun and I didn’t spend a lot. Maybe what I did would work for you to. One of my twins wanted a toy called Zoob. He had some pieces but really wanted more so he could make bigger things. I found on Ebay a 500 piece set with a broken case. I got it really cheaply. I picked up container at Bed Bath & Beyond with a coupon. The container I got was actually better for him because it can hold all of his Zoob pieces. I took the stickers off the broken case and put them on the new case. I put in the toys and it looked great. Sometimes buying something on ebay, the internet… can be much cheaper than going to a local store.
My other son wanted a Minecraft toy. I ended up getting it at ToysRUs with a 20% off coupon I had got with my rewards card. I always try to remember to sign up for any available rewards programs.
My older son gave his brothers some Nerf footballs I had gotten cheaply from a Quaker oats promotion recently and had put away for the kids birthday.
For their classroom parties I made cupcakes. I used some coupons to pick up cake mix, I already had a stockpile of cupcake papers and the other things I needed to make them. I made all the cupcakes and icing with things I had purchased with coupons.
For their party we are having a 5 friends coming to the house this weekend for ice cream, homemade cake, and lunch. I got the gift bags, small toys… cheaply at Dollar Tree. After that were going to a local kid fun place that is going to be at full price. I can’t find a coupon anywhere. I didn’t rent the party room there because it’s absurdly priced.
I’m sure there are people out there that spend less or more than I will for their kids birthday. This event should be lots of fun and it’s not going to cost anywhere near as much as it could have. What have you done for birthday parties that was fun but didn’t cost you a lot?
